Why We Like the Polaris 9300 Sport
When customers ask us about robotic pool cleaners, the 9300 Sport comes up frequently in our recommendations. It cleans most residential pools in under two hours and handles the mix of debris we see around here: leaves, twigs, pollen, without getting jammed up.
The canister design makes a real difference in daily use. You leave the cleaner on the top step, pop open the lid, and pull out the filter. A quick rinse and you’re done. No wrestling the whole unit out of the pool or touching any of the muck you just cleaned up.
Polaris went with three motors instead of two, which spreads out the workload and reduces wear on each component. There aren’t any belts to snap or pulleys to fail. When something does need fixing down the road, the motor assembly comes out with four screws. We appreciate equipment that’s built to last and simple to repair.
What’s Available Now in 2025
The newer Polaris models connect to your phone through an app, which sounds gimmicky until you actually use it. Starting a cleaning cycle from work so the pool’s ready when you get home makes sense. Their cordless versions eliminate the power cord entirely, and the cleaner sends you a notification when it’s finished.
The EPIC model turns tighter and climbs walls better than older versions. Some models are running promotional pricing through December, which might be worth checking if you’ve been thinking about an upgrade.
Looking Forward
Battery technology keeps improving, so cordless cleaners will probably run longer between charges next year. Better navigation systems are coming; models that actually remember your pool’s shape and learn where debris tends to collect.
Around here we deal with constant tree debris. Oak leaves in fall, pine needles year round, pecan shells in summer. We’d love to see bigger filter canisters and smarter programming that adjusts to seasonal patterns.
Eventually these cleaners will probably talk to other smart home devices. Maybe coordinate with weather apps to run extra cycles before storms. The technology is heading that direction.
Where Professional Service Fits
A good robotic cleaner handles surface debris and basic filtration, but it doesn’t replace regular service visits. We test water chemistry, inspect equipment, and catch small issues before they turn into flooded equipment pads or burned out motors.
